Product Overview

At the furthermost tip of the galaxy burns a small white star. Here lie the remnants of the First Born, an advanced civilization that conquered the galaxy long ago but found themselves utterly alone, and brought low by civil war. One war-like faction placed themselves into suspended animation and waited.

For millions of years they slept, but they were slowly driven mad. Fanatical and paranoid, they learned to fear and despise the new species that they once longed for.

When the Traders arrived in a seemingly abandoned asteroid field to pick over the bones of a long-dead people, the First Born were awoken…

Core Space: First Born is a solo/co-operative sci-fi miniatures game in which your band of Traders venture into the temples of the First Born, a fanatical alien species that do not welcome intruders!

The game takes place on a detailed 3D board. Your Traders must explore the area, fulfil their objectives, salvage what they can and then escape back to their ship, spending their earnings on desperately-needed repairs. The exciting campaign system will track your crew from game to game, developing their skills, upgrading their equipment and immersing you in their story.

First Born is based on the cyberpunk bestseller Core Space but is a fully standalone game for new and existing players alike.

Core Space is a fun, cinematic game which looks fantastic on the table and is easy to play. It has the simplicity of a good board game and the depth and strategy of a wargame coupled with a system that’s quick to learn and easy to adapt. It’s been the most played game in our house for the last two years. Highly recommended!!

I got Core Space First Born from the Kickstarter. Initially, I didn't pay much attention, but friends recommended it, so I gave it a try. And I have to say that I don't regret it. This one easily shot up on my top list of games that I have ever played. The miniatures are good. Actually they are very good for board game standard and okay for miniature war gaming standards. They certainly do their job and have some nice varying dynamic poses. They look even better painted. The rulebook is well structured and easy to understand - even for non-native speakers. There is a good Learn to play guide that introduces to the core rules and concepts. Also, there are a lot of images for clarification and immersion in in the rule book. There is also a lot of terrain in the box as well as a gaming mat that lies surprisingly flat on the table even after being stored folded inside the box. The terrain is easy to stack together and with a bit of time for the initial building, it's quick and easy to create your own maps. And the best part: you can store everything inside the box after playing. And then there is the game itself: the rules are easy: there are a number of phases. In the first phase you increase the hostility and draw an event card. I the second phase players perform their actions. Each model can perform two actions (moving, shooting, using equipment, interacting...) In the third and fourth phase NPCs and First Born take their turns. There is a simple diagram that tells the players what action each model performs based in the situation on the board (well, mat). And then there is a cleanup phase. That's it. The possible actions are clear and there are enough to allow a lot of different strategies. But there are not too much to confuse players. It is a great mix. And then there is the main pro of this game : IMMERSION! It's everywhere. From really searching the alien artifacts and crates to realism, like paying for your traders and ships. The great terrain supports the immersion even further. And the increasing hostility peaks this whole immersion. In the beginning of a game you stealth through the ruins and try not to be detected. But the longer you search the ruins, the more hostile everything becomes and you have to decide when its time to run for your life. This feels like Indiana Jones in Space. And I haven't even mentioned campaigns yet... As you can probably see, after my first games, I simply love this game! Can't wait to try the expansions! A high recommendation from my side!

I receive my KS bundle, EVERYTHING that was available on the campaign, and is a blast!!! So much fun also for my wife that is not a person that usually like to go through some rules. What we really like about this game is the setting is the fact that you can almost do everything like a RPG, but in a box. Terrain are superb, I'm using it also for other setting, and I'm waiting to see whats next!!!

This is the best solo game ever, so much fun packed into one box with all you need: terrains gaming mate minis dies rulers and much more, absolutely recommended!

Many amazing minis full of details and in hard plastic. A LOT of cardboard terrain filled with rich colours, nice texture and a 2' x 2'neoprene mat neatly packed in the box. A very good set of rules easy to understand, including a pre-guided mission teaching you the basics before starting your campaign. Development features for your characters and ships with their unique board (Replayability is truly an option here because of customization of your crew and difficulty setting) And my personal favorite that is the "true search system" that let's you really get what you uncover from the different terrain "boxes" you fill with cardboard items. I'm guessing i'll be putting more than 50+ hours to this game, and that's before expansions or the other core set! As a bonus, everything in the box can be used in other sci-fi games so value doubles with that thought. Best purchase i've made in years and i hope for more expansions and maybe a really big space ship?

Bought this through the kickstarter and couldn't be happier. A lot of game packed into the box. Allows for tons of customisability even without adding other sets, and gives a very satisfying gaming experience.

I’ve never played a skirmish game before and after seeing a war hammer prices and the size of the rulebooks for some of them, coupled with the fact I play solo - they don’t massively appeal either. Then Core Space rolls around and addresses each of those things! I only got the Core Set through KS and am regretting not backing all in. It’s a brilliant game, the rules are manageable and there are great videos to help you. First Born is designed with solo in mind and works really well as such plus the price is considerably lower than most of my other board games that don’t even come with any or the great terrain this does. I’ll no doubt pick up more of this and will be hitting refresh eagerly when the next KS launches.

If you've ever wanted to marry board gaming and miniature gaming, Core Space it it. There is something for everyone here, from hard core miniature painters to novices who just want to play straight out of the box. The 3D terrain adds so much emmersion to a game that can be played by anyone, even my 5 year old son.

I've had my First Born kickstarter pledge for a week now, and I continue to be blown away by the game. You only have to take one look at it to see it looks great and is a real labour of love from battlesystems, but just as importantly, the mechanics are sound and it plays well too. This game has everything, stealth, tactics and suspense to full blown, guns blazing combat. It has found a unique niche in that it appeals to the paper and pencil RPG fans, skirmish wargamers and boardgames players equally and it challenges and rewards them all. If you have ever thrilled at a dice roll, you will not be disappointed with First Born. Few things in life are perfect, but this is about as close as one can get.

A big box of goodies. I like the first born minis more than the purge but booth boxes give you great stuff.

Got it via Kickstarter. A complete campaign with beautiful scenery, detailed miniatures very well packaged. Even assembled, everything fits inside. What's not to love?
