This mission is part two of a two-part story: see Mission 39, The Enemy of My Enemy for part one.
You’ve encountered some terrible ideas in your time as a Trader, the time Wade sampled some of Qiog’s moonshine being a memorable example. Releasing a creature that even the First Born are afraid of turns out to have been in another league. You limped back to Trading Post 5 to find that the Insomnolent had beaten you there and was already bending the local First Born to its will. The pounding in your head acts as a warning that it is now shifting its attention to doing the same to you and everyone else at the outpost. Through the pain you catch a glimpse of its intentions: first control the outpost, then escape into the wider galaxy to take its rightful place as ruler. Normal First Born are bad enough, but the Insomnolent’s abilities make it an existential threat to worlds of the Accord. Given the speed that it is recovering its power, you should act fast!
In this mission, you need to stop a genetically engineered True Born that is mind-controlling the local First Born and the residents of Trading Post 5. If it gets out it could be catastrophic for the wider galaxy, and you could pick up a unique engram too. Releasing it in the first place was a mistake that you share with the Galactic Corps and everyone looks bad. If you help Zara delete the evidence, she’ll quietly divert Corps fire support assets to help you on future missions.
