Following on from our recent video where we dragged Colin in front of a camera, we wanted to put out a quick update in writing that summarises all the topics covered in this video.
Future Projects
We managed to squeeze as much out of Colin about future projects as we could, without giving Tom (our Marketing guy) a mild panic attack over all the extra content he’ll need to make sure all of you are kept in the loop. We even left a little fluffy friend on the desk to try and tempt Colin into getting excited and spilling a few secrets about Project Penguin.
Terrain:
We covered this set back in January, and since then the collection of prototypes has grown considerably in the office. My word they look good, and we’re confident you’ll love them. You might remember that this new terrain is a bespoke build, meaning no clips are required to assemble them. That’s given the team the freedom to push the detail even further; Colin was still spotting new touches while filming the video! We can’t wait to share it all with you. Hopefully in the not too distant future.
Maladum Characters:
We’ve previously shared some of Colin’s sketches, but this time we’re excited to show off final artwork from Nick Greenwood, who’s been graciously working with us for a while now. While these are being released as a character expansion for Maladum, it’s worth remembering they’re fully compatible with Core Space too. The new character with an explosives focus could definitely make an impact against the Purge!
Mounts in Maladum:
In this update, Colin was able to share some final character artwork with us; a first for the whole team as well as you. Everyone did a great job of staying quiet as it was revealed (no easy feat!). There’s still plenty of work to do on the mechanics, but we’re really excited about the progress so far and the ideas still flying around the office.

Dungeon Archives Terrain Pack
Not included in the initial Kickstarter. This Dungeon Archives set allows you to convert part of your Dungeon into a library for the more learned amongst your adventurers, where they can browse over a hundred books, examine the orrery or simply ransack the place for its valuables!
Ravenskeep Sewer
The Ravenskeep Sewers can be combined with our Dungeon Terrain to transform your gaming area into the bowels of a thriving city. One pack is enough to turn a full 2’x2′ gaming area into a network of sewer channels, all with raised edges for a 3D effect. It also includes arched walls for the sewer to pass through and a variety of drains, grates, manholes and ladders.
The tiles are double-sided – on the reverse side you will find deadly lava flows for an underworld-themed board. Below, we’ve included a couple of videos showcasing map layouts we’ve created using the contents of Beyond the Vaults.
Project Penguin
Finally, some of you might remember from our last update that Colin revealed his deep, dark secret; he’s working on something Core Space-related called Project Penguin. We thought the fluffy friend we left on the desk might be enough to make him crack and spill a few more details… but no luck.
We have seen some of the prototyping he’s been doing, often followed by regular shouts for Tom to put the camera away. It’s a delicate balance between letting Colin get on with things and constantly pestering him for sneak peeks and details. In the meantime, we’ve got plenty of upcoming releases that will bolster your games of Maladum and bring more awesome terrain to your tabletop.
For now, we wait a few more months for his next update, and we’ll try again to squeeze more Core Space news out of him.
