Terrain Suitable
for Warhammer 40K

11th edition changed what a 40K board has to do. Cover now makes your models harder to hit rather than harder to wound, terrain you can stand a unit inside will hide it from anything more than 15 inches away, and the standard mission layouts come with published footprints. Sixteen terrain areas, at set sizes, most of them medium or long and thin. Battle Systems makes modular sci-fi terrain suitable for Warhammer 40K, built for 25mm to 35mm miniatures. Gothic ruins, industrial buildings, containers and barricades, with interiors you can put models in and levels they can climb. Because it is modular, you build to the footprint the layout asks for rather than hoping a fixed-size building fits it. Everything ships flat-packed on high-density card, pre-printed in full colour on both sides, so there is no priming and no painting. The main structures clip together, though the smaller props want a spot of glue.

Terrain that blocks line of sight

Built to the footprint, not to the box

The standard layouts ask for four large rectangles, two large triangles, four medium rectangles and six long thin strips. Most terrain ranges are built around showpiece buildings, and most collections are short on the boring shapes that make a layout work.

Modular terrain gets built to fit. Break it down and the same collection makes a 7 by 11.5 inch ruin this week and a run of low wall next week. It folds flat, which matters when the board travels to a club.

Buildings, ruins and the bits in between

The range covers gothic ruins and cathedral wreckage, industrial zones built around turbines and trade containers, alien catacombs, and frontier outposts. Containers, barricades and scatter fill the gaps between the big pieces, which is where most collections run short.

Mats to put it on

A 40K board needs a surface as well as scenery. Our neoprene gaming mats are printed to match the terrain sets, so the ruins sit on ground that looks like it belongs to them.

No painting, no build weekend

Everything is pre-printed in full colour on both sides on high-density card. It clips together, it comes apart, and it is ready the evening it arrives. The crates and barrels want a spot of glue.

Terrain suitable for Warhammer 40K at 25mm to 35mm scale also works across Core Space, Maladum and many other game systems, so a 40K collection is not a 40K-only collection.

Frequently Asked Questions

Is Battle Systems terrain suitable for Warhammer 40K?

Yes. Battle Systems makes modular sci-fi terrain suitable for Warhammer 40K, built for 25mm to 35mm miniatures. The range covers gothic ruins, industrial buildings, trade containers, barricades and alien catacombs, with solid walls and interiors you can place models inside.

What scale is Battle Systems terrain?

Battle Systems terrain is built for 25mm to 35mm miniatures, which is perfectly suitable for the scale Warhammer 40K models are designed to. Buildings are full height, ruins have floors you can stand a unit on, and scatter pieces are sized to give genuine cover rather than decoration.

Does Battle Systems terrain need painting?

No. Every piece arrives pre-printed in full colour on both sides on high-density card, so there is no priming and no painting. The main structures clip together. The smaller props, such as crates and barrels, want a spot of glue.

Does it work with the 11th edition terrain rules?

Yes. 11th edition asks for terrain solid enough to block line of sight, pieces you can place models inside, levels a miniature can stand on. Battle Systems terrain is modular, so you build to the footprint the layout calls for rather than working around a fixed-size building. Buildings are full height with interiors, and multi-level sets give you elevated positions.

Do you make gaming mats for Warhammer 40K?

Yes. Battle Systems neoprene gaming mats are printed to match the terrain sets, so the scenery sits on ground that belongs to it. Sizes and set bundles are listed on the individual product pages.

Do you have terrain suitable for Kill Team or Necromunda?

Yes. Battle Systems has dedicated pages for terrain suitable for Kill Team and terrain suitable for Necromunda, with products and guidance for each game.
