Core Space First Born Episode 4: Bug Hunt

Four episodes in and the crew of the Eidolon seem to be getting very good at surviving things they probably shouldn’t have. But who doesn’t love a crew with a bit of a push-your-luck attitude?

If they wanted the comfy life they’d have joined the Galactic Corp.

Last Time Out

Everybody made it home, and that is potentially the most positive part of this recap.

Wade once again finished the mission face down being dragged by his leg. Whilst Captain Cassie did not manage to leave at all and was captured. Meaning that the crew needed to part with some credits in order to pay her ransom.

During the mission the crew managed to collect three of the four Artifact fragments and they have chosen to hold out to see if they can collect the fourth, making it much more valuable to sell. With the credits they had left over they have managed to repair the Eidolon but did not have enough left over to purchase any upgrades.

Lets hope that this won’t be detrimental to them as they progress through the campaign.

THE CREW OF THE EIDOLON

JOHN – CAPTAIN CASSIE PELTIER

As Cassie did not make it out under her own steam, that means she is unable to claim any experience for the last mission. Meaning that she was not able to level up a skill this time.

However, Cassie did start with additional XP points to spend compared to the rest of her crew. So hopefully missing one point this early into the campaign won’t prove too detrimental in the long run.

Going into the next mission, Cassie is looking forward to engaging with the hunters and is hoping to persuade them to join the team for the mission.

Let’s hope they’re amenable.

Wayne – Wade

For this mission Wade has spent his experience on the skill Counter Shot. As a reaction, after being targeted by a ranged attack, Wade can make a ranged attack back at the attacker.

His forecast for the next mission is simply alot of Rock Worms in the face, and they’re very unpleasant. But on the flip side he is excited to see what the hunters do to help them during the mission.

That’s assuming they the crew that is.

Michael – Balcor

Balcor, gave his credit to surviving another mission by being ‘big and fluffy’. With his gained experience point, he took the skill Energize. Which for the cost of a skill peg, let’s Balcor either make a move action, make a ranged attack or restore one health peg.

After complaining about the ‘lack of Rock Worms’ in the previous game it will be interesting to see if he regrets this feeling by the end of this mission.

Especially if they turn out to be, as Wade has already suggested, very unpleasant. Perhaps it will be Wades turn to grab a leg and head for the airlock.

Starting Crew & Equipment

The goal of these games is ultimately to have as much fun as possible. But we are also aiming to show what the players’ choices are between games to change equipment and level up their characters. These insights can either help lead your next decision, or act as a cautionary tale that a skill won’t work for your you.

That’s the setup for Mission 3. Episode 4: Bug Hunt is now live on our YouTube Channel, so all that’s left is for you to watch what happens!

Until next time, Happy Gaming!
