Long ago, back when the capital of Khaara was still called Qureshi, the people there constructed a network of mysterious earthworks in the landscape. The true purpose these structures served was lost to time, and alluded to only in myths. That was until a century ago when they drew the attention of a radical scholar called Mintrantor. He was convinced that some of the old stories about these mounds were true, and he financed a series of expeditions to prove his theory. To everyone’s surprise, he was correct and discovered that a subterranean labyrinth ran beneath them that contained items that matched those described in the myths. Over the years, Mintrantor delved deeper into the maze, his curiosity turning into an obsession. He feverishly sought forbidden lore and unearthed dark artefacts that slowly corrupted him. He pursued his goals at any cost, blighting the land until a party of heroes sought him out to end the damage he was causing. Neither they nor Mintrantor were ever heard from again. The lands returned to peace, but treasure hunters have sought their fortune, often at the cost of their lives, in Mintrantor’s Labyrinth ever since. Maybe you will be luckier?
This quest can be played in two ways:
- as part of the mini-campaign that starts with The King’s Brides.
- or, if you fancy a change from Of Coin and Glory, it can be played as a standalone quest to build money and experience instead. Much of Mintrantor’s Labyrinth remains unexplored, and he created many refuges for himself in its depths. This means that you can replay this mission as often as you want, changing the layout or adjusting what is needed to access the refuge in the new area as you see fit.
We’d love to hear what experiences you create for your Adventurer’s face in the maze!
